ADHD Home Organization Tools
Organizing my home is one of my biggest battles. I feel so calm and happy in a tidy, organized space, but struggle to get there on my own - especially in a household with three inattentive, hyperactive ADHDers.
I’ve finally got an organization system in place that works for most of our home. I’ve found that for me, it’s essential to have the right container for everything - if I have to move things to put something in its home, or struggle to reach an ill-fitting or too-high container, it’s just not going to happen. Everything needs to be clearly labeled and easy to see, or our ADHD brains tend to forget the items exist. Most importantly - every time I purge items and make a big donation, I find it’s easier to stay on top of th household organization.

Definitely not an inexpensive gift, but small in size, so it would technically fit in a stocking! I’m leaning in and putting these small, inexpensive adding trash cans everywhere my family tends to leave trash. One of my kids now has three - by the bed, by the art desk, and near the door. It takes an extra minute or two to gather for trash day, but everyone is much more likely to put their trash away instead of absentmindedly leaving wrappers and scrap paper everywhere if a trash can is in reach.

This was a random impulse buy that turned out to be amazing. I print off task lists for my kids (steps to get ready in the morning, bedtime prep checklists, and more). They use Expo markers to check off the items and reuse the lists. It’s also been surprisingly handy for school and craft projects.
